The only way I could describe the staff weekly challenge last week is using one word and one word only – muddy!
As of recently Charlotte has been coming up with some weekly challenges for the staff to do. For example, the one before “the biggest splash” was the “swivel chair challenge” – well you can imagine!
So our most recent challenge was “the biggest splash”. We always encourage our children to embrace the wet and the mud at Free Rangers. We love to get muddy in the burrow and will always venture to find some puddles to explore. We have also been giving the new mud slide a go in the paddock (which is also adult friendly - how convenient!) However now, it was the adults turn to get wet and muddy! After hearing about the challenge, Soraya, Lauren, Tiff and I were feeling competitive.
As always, we were prepared for the British weather. We geared ourselves up with our waterproofs, coats, sunglasses and sun hats – as you never know what the weather will do! Along with some buckets and spades, fans and even a Nursery World magazine!
We ventured around the farm to our designated puddle with the burrow children. Soraya, Lauren, Tiff and I took our places and the challenge begun. The burrow children watched us splash around in the puddle with complete amazement, I’ve never known them to stand so still!! After about 10 photos we finally got the final photo as well as a video. By the end of the challenge, it was mud galore. I think Tiff and I can safely say we were the muddiest, with mud in our mouths, up our noses and in the ears!! As soon as we had finished, the burrow children came straight over to the puddle and started to splash too. We like to show the children that we can get wet and muddy too, this encourages them to join in and after all – it can be washed off! ☺
Our photos went live on Facebook where a lot of our parents voted for which room they thought had the biggest splash – and the burrow won!! A massive well done to the Nest, Warren, Den and management for theirs too. It was a great challenge, we are definitely looking forward to the next one!!
So go on, put some waterproofs on, go out, take a walk and go and get muddy!
Thank you for voting for us and thank you for reading!!
