So a new term normally means new toys, and that means new imagination, new adventures and more fun.
Burrow and Den parents, I expect you've noticed we've had a little move around and there's some new bits and bobs about.
We've got toddler size scales, we've got wood (and I mean LOTS of wood) and we've got a wheelbarrow. We are basically in a builder’s element! But who says we have to be builders? We've seen children use the scales to balance babies, we've seen children making up their own songs such as "UP DOWN UP DOWN" as they push the scales up and down. We've seen children using their gross physical motor skills in squatting down to their knees when one end of the scales go down, then bouncing back up when the scale rises again.
AND AND AND BIG NEWS...we've got a water wall! Big thank you and shout out to our handyman Daryl who created it.
The Burrowers and the Den children have come to explore and watch the water trickle from all angles. We've used some metal shopping baskets and secured them to our fence. In here is where we keep all our water resources such as Yeo Valley yogurt pots, old bubble mixture bottles, saucepans, sieves...the resources are endless.
When the Burrowers have been exploring the archway, it's so very obvious to see ways that they are developing their learning and linking to the EYFS, which is basically an Early Years Practitioner’s bible.
They have had to negotiate space, take turns, work in teams, work independently, use their imagination, use their language, fine and motor skills, filling and emptying and honestly the learning does not stop.
Take a look at the photo's and see what we have been up too!
